Rules

Nominations

You can nominate your ships here. You can nominate up to 20 relationships or solo characters.

For romantic relationships, the format is "Character A/Character B" (ex: Elias Bouchard/Jonathan Sims)

For non-romantic relationships, the format is "Character A & Character B" (ex: Elias Bouchard & Jonathan Sims)

For single characters, the format is "Solo: Character" (ex: Solo: Elias Bouchard)

You may nominate any combination of characters and monsters. You may request original characters, such as "Original Monster/Tim Stoker", "Solo: Statement Giver affected by The Spiral" or "Basira Hussain & Basira's Mother"

Sign Ups

Requests
You must select "The Magnus Archives" as your fandom -- this is so that the relationships will properly auto-complete in the relationships line.

You may request up to twenty relationships/characters per request. Only characters/relationships from the tag set can be requested.

You must select whether you would like to receive SFW ("General Audiences") or NSFW ("Explicit") works. If you'd be happy with either, select both.

You must select whether you would like to receive Fanart or Fanfic. If you'd be happy with either, select both.

You can create separate requests for different combinations of pairing + explicitness + medium. For example:

REQUEST 1: Melanie King/Georgie, Basira Hussain/Daisy Tonner, Tim Stoker/Martin Blackwood; Explicit; Fanart
REQUEST 2: Martin Blackwood & Tim Stoker, Martin Blackwood & Elias Bouchard, Mr. Spider & Jonathan Sims; General; Fanfic
REQUEST 3: Solo: Daisy Tonner, Martin Blackwood/Jonathan Sims; General, Explicit; Fanart, Fanfic

Please put any DNWs ("Do Not Want") in the details portion of the sign up form. They must be in your AO3 sign-up to be enforceable.

You may put prompts/requests either in the details portion of the sign up form, or link to an external letter. Please note that OPTIONAL DETAILS ARE OPTIONAL, and the only thing that will be enforced is DNWs that are listed in the AO3 sign up.

Offers
You can create up to 10 separate offers, with up to 20 characters/relationships per offer.

You must select whether you are willing to create SFW ("General") or NSFW ("Explicit") works. Select both if you are willing to create either.

You must select whether you are willing to create fanfic or fanart. Select both if you are willing to create either.

You may create multiple offers with different combinations. Example:

OFFER 1: Melanie King/Tim Stoker; Explicit; Fanfic
OFFER 2: Solo: Mr. Spider; General, Explicit; Fanart
OFFER 3: Jonathan Sims/Georgie Barker, Martin Blackwood/Daisy Tonner; General; Fanfic, Fanart

You are encouraged to look at the requests summary and tailor your offers to match/avoid requests based on your interests.

Matching

We will run matching one sign ups are completed. You will be matched base on one combination of pairing + content level (SFW vs NSFW) + medium (art or fic). This exchange runs on or matching. That means for each category, ONE requested tag will be used.

Please ensure that you include the correct tags for the content (SFW vs NSFW, art or fic), pairing and characters you want to receive and write for.

If there is no potential creator for you, you will go to pinch hits. Don't worry, you will get a gift!

If you have no potential recipient, we will contact you. You can choose to have your offers changed so you match with somebody, or you can delete your sign up at this point.

Assignments

Fic must be completed and over 1000 words minimum; there is no maximum length.

Art must have clean lines on unlined paper. Either digital or traditional art is acceptable.

All works must include one requested pairing/character with the desired content (SFW vs NSFW) and in the desired medium (art or fic)

Deadlines & Dropping Out

Extensions will not be given.

If you must drop out, please do so as soon as possible through AO3s "default" feature in your assignments section of your dashboard. Please do so as soon as you know you won't be able to fulfill your assignment so that a pinch hit can be posted.

If you are an at-deadline default, you will be banned from participating in the next year.

Other questions

Do I have to write/draw the pairing/character I matched on?
No! Your recipient has no idea what you matched on, so feel free to choose from any of your recipient's prompts, so long as everything is in the correct combination. If you matched on NSFW Art of Beholding/Elias, but your recip also requested SFW Fic of Jon/Sasha, you can create that instead.

Do I need to write statement fic?
No! The title of the exchange is just that. You're free to write statement fic if requested or as treats, but that's not necessary.

What's a treat? And can I write treats?
Treats are extra gifts for recipients outside of what was officially assigned. Treats are welcome and encouraged! You may also write general treats for the collection; just gift them to the mod account.

Yup, that is the final timeline we're going with!

We'll be announcing the nomination period once it gets closer.

I’m a little confused on matching. For each request, is it AND or OR matching? So for example, if I offer Jon/Martin, fanfic, any rating, would I match to someone with a request for Jon/Martin, Martin/Tim, general, fanfic? Or just to someone who only requested Jon/Martin for a particular request. I’m asking in particular since some of the requests seem written in a way that assumes all ships/characters were matched on for that request.

It's OR matching in each category.

So, for example...

Request:
Tim/Jon, Tim/Elias, Tim/Melanie
Fanfic
Gen, Explicit

Offer 1:
Tim/Jon, Tim/Elias, Tim/Melanie
fanart
Gen, Explicit

Offer 2:
Tim/Melanie, Elias/Jon, Martin/Sasha
fanfic
gen


Offer 2 will match with the request, because they have Tim/Melanie + fanfic + gen in common. Offer 1 has all the pairings in common but is offering fanart instead of fanfic, so it's no match.

You only have to write what you matched on. If the person requested 20 pairings and you matched on exactly one, then you are only required to write that one pairing (or character). Same with the medium (fanart vs fanfic) and the rating (explicit vs non-explicit).

Sorry I wasn't clear enough. I'll take a look at the requests and see if there are any that would cause trouble in terms of matching. Right now some people have opted to put one prompt per request, although that isn't strictly necessary.

The initial idea behind allowing multiple request/offer slots was so you could split up your likes. Um... so, if you wanted only fanart for Solo: Web, you could request that, and then for Solo: Martin you could request only fanfic, or both fic and art. Or maybe you wanted NSFW content for Jon/Georgie and Elias/Martin but only SFW stuff for Tim/Sasha. Same for offers, of course. Some people are comfortable offering art of a single character, but not art of multiple characters (but are happy to write fanfic with multiple characters).
